US Department of Education’s Report on TEA’s Violation of IDEA

A few days ago, the US Department of Education released a report with the findings of TEA’s compliance with IDEA. The report indicates that TEA violated IDEA in three areas- they failed to ensure Child Find (identify children with disabilities, locate and evaluate, and provide services), they failed to ensure FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education), and they failed to supervise and monitor school districts and charter schools to ensure that they followed the law. In other words, TEA failed students with disabilities.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s education or how this will impact services for your child, please contact us.
